The Use of Calibrated and Monitored Loran as a Means for Precision Vessel Location

1987
A method of using Loran C by means of a prior calibration and stationary monitors is described which results in much higher accuracy than usually obtained from conventional use of this system of radionavigation. Accuracies of the order of 5 yards are being experienced in areas where favorable Loran conditions exist, and the results almost never are worse than ten to twenty yards. The method of calibration and monitoring is discussed and reference is made to the equations employed for the calibration process.
