Efficacy of Intrathecally injecting teicoplanin in intracranial infection by gram-positive cocci

2009
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of intrathecally injecting teicoplanin in intracranial infection by Gram-Positive Cocci. Methods 56 cases with postoperative intracranial infection by Cram-Positive Cocci were enrolled in this study. All patients were divided into teicoplanin group(Group A)and vancomycin group(Group B).Patients were administered with teicoplanin or vancomycin intrathecal injection respectively.Clinical effects and bacteriology were compared. Results The rate of excellence and bacteria clearance of teicoplanin were 96.4% and 92.9% respectively, which were a little better than vancomycin without significant differences. Conclusion Intrathecal injection of teicoplanin plays a useful role in the treatment of intracranial infection by Gram-positive Cocci without any complication.
