Nanosecond-SDBD Actuation over a Conical Forebody at Wind Speed 72 m/s and Angle of Attack 45degree

2015
Repetitive nanosecond pulse generator is used to excite two opposite facing plasma actuators which are placed on the surface near the apex of a cone having semi-apex angle of 10◦ to control the vortex position. The pressure distributions over the cone forebody are measured using time-averaged pressure taps. The experiments are performed at 72 m/s wind speed and angle of attack 45 deg with Reynolds number 7.2 × 105 based on the cone base diameter. The lateral side force can be controlled by the actuation of the actuators. Cross flow vortex patterns and wake vortex patterns are investigated.
