The form and conductance of leaves stoma for six turfgrasses

2005
It was found that the form of stoma of Buffalo grass(BF), Lawngrass(LG) and Bermudagrass(BG) was ring-shiped. The proportion of stoma length on width is below 2.5. The stoma of BG and BF were covered with wax. The stoma of Kentucky bluegrass(KB), Perennial Ryegrass(PR) and Tall Fescue(TF) is ellipse. The proportion of stoma length on width is above 2.5. The size of (leave′s) stoma for three warm season turfgrasses is smaller than three cool-season turfgrasses, and the density of stoma of warm-season turfgrass is larger than cool-season turfgrasses. The stomatel conductance dynam of cool-season grasses occurred two peaks during a day, but warm-season grasses had only one. The stomatal conductance of KB and LG was lower than all of others. The more stomatal conductance of grasses leaves, the more water consumed was proved, because of stoma opening.
