A GRAVIMETRIC SIZE-SELECTING PERSONAL DUST SAMPLER

1967
SUMMARY THE Hexhlet is a very satisfactory apparatus for measuring respirable dust concentrations in the general atmospheres of ironfoundries, but it is unsuitable for measuring the concentration of respirable dust actually breathed by an individual foundryman. The need for an apparatus which will measure true personal dust exposure is outlined, and a gravimetric sizeselecting personal sampler which gives results in close agreement with the Hexhlet, is described. The apparatus operates without attention, is convenient to wear, and samples continuously from the man's breathing zone for a full working shift.
