Compact array of light pipes for use in the infrared

1983
Abstract A method is described which allows the production of high reflectivity surfaces for light pipes and cavities suitable for use at optical and longer wavelengths. A novel mounting method, involving casting the components in Wood's metal, alleviates the need for very thick electrodeposits, whilst ensuring good thermal and mechanical properties and allowing machining of the final part. Complicated optical arrangements can be made in sections and assembled afterwards.
