Performance testing of three offshore skimming devices. [Commercial oil spill cleanup devices]

When energy and material resources are extracted, processed, converted, and used, the related pollutional impacts on our environment and even on our health often require that new and increasingly more efficient pollution control methods be used. The Industrial Environmental Research Laboratory - Cincinnati (IERL-Ci) assists in developing and demonstrating new and improved methodologies that will meet these needs both efficiently and economically. This report describes performance testing of three commercial oil spill cleanup devices under a variety of controlled conditions. Based on these results, a number of operating techniques described are of interest to those who specify, use, or test such equipment.
