Analysis of Using the Fuzzy Intervals Apparatus for Applied Tasks

This article examines the transport and logistics system and analyzes the methods of assignment the initial data. One of the main parameters when designing a new, or planning the activities of an existing system, is demand. The adequacy of the obtained solution depends on the correct determination of the demand. The paper considers non-deterministic methods for specifying the initial data. It is shown that the apparatus of fuzzy-interval specification of the data of the transport and logistics system is an adequate scheme for solving the problem, taking into account the factors that introduce uncertainty. The application of the extended maximum operation and the operation of adding fuzzy intervals (L–R)–type are considered. The analysis of the feasibility of using each operation for a specific case in determining the demand of the transport and logistics system. A methodology for assessing demand is proposed for the possibility of effective planning of the transport and logistics system.
