Initial analysis on dual frequency operation for single layer reflectarray antenna

An analysis of dual frequency operation of concentric split ring square element for reflectarray antenna is presented in this paper. The antenna diameter is designed at 150 mm × 150 mm size to understand its characteristic performance in term of gain, sidelobe level (SLL) and beamwidth. The variable size approach is used to form a planar phase front whereby a set of phase and size element distribution is carried out using MATLAB software. The proposed antenna has successfully covered two frequency operations (11.2 GHz and 16.8 GHz) in Ku-band range. The performance parameter at both frequencies is analyzed using HFSS software and discussed in this paper. It is shown in this paper that the dual frequency operation can be realized by using a simple single layer concentric element.
