EFEITO AGUDO DE NAC SOBRE MARCADORES DE DANO TECIDUAL EM ATLETAS DE VOLEIBOL

2012
Acute Effects of NAC on markers of tissue damage in volleyball athletes Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the possible acute effect of supplementation with 1,200 mg of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) on biochemical markers and tissue damage (ALT (alanine aminotransferase), AST (aspartate aminotransferase), alkaline phosphatase, LDH (Lactate Dehydrogenase ), CK (Creatine Kinase), uric acid, creatinine and urea); Methodology: a randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled, twenty young athletes, who were evaluated and subjected to an intense training session of volleyball under the effect of NAC (1,200 mg) or placebo, and biochemical markers measured before and after exercise. Results: There were no significant changes in markers of oxidative stress and tissue damage. Conclusion: The ingestion of a single dose of NAC is not enough to promote antioxidant effect and / or the protective tissue damage.
