Forced displacement in the americas and its impact on regional migrations

This current article refers to the new trends of forced displacement in the region and the challenges of international protection of refugees within the increasing mixed migratory flows. While it is true that a distinction has been traditionally made between migrants and refugees, there is more and more consensus about a singular way to address their respective plights from a right-based approach, starting from the recognition that all persons under the jurisdiction of a State are entitled to protection, regardless of whether they are nationals or aliens, and in the case of the alter, of their migratory status. Key-words : mixed migratory flows; migrants; refugees O presente artigo se refere as novas tendencias do deslocamento forcado na regiao e aos desafios da protecao internacional dos refugiados com vistas a crescente migracao mista. E bem verdade que sempre houve uma distincao entre migrantes e refugiados, porem, existe hoje em dia, um consenso sobre o modo como se deve lidar com seus respectivos problemas baseando-se nos seus concernentes direitos, principiando do reconhecimento de que todas as pessoas sob jurisdicao do Estado tem direito a protecao, independentemente de serem migrantes ou nativos, e, no caso do primeiro, de sua condicao migratoria.
