Traffic forwarding method and apparatus

A traffic forwarding method. The method comprises: when a running state of a routing device indicates a backup device in a virtual router redundancy protocol (VRRP) backup group, the routing device storing address information about the VRRP backup group; if it is detected that a primary device in the VRRP backup group fails, and the routing device is the backup device associated with the primary device, the routing device receiving traffic sent by a terminal; and if destination address information about the traffic is consistent with the address information stored in the routing device, the routing device forwarding the traffic. Also disclosed is a traffic forwarding apparatus.
