Decomposition of solutions of tetranitromethane by shock waves

1971
1. A solution of tetranitromethane in benzene in the liquid phase decomposes at high pressure at a rate significantly exceeding the rate of decomposition of tetranitromethane under the same conditions. 2. The addition of gaseous toluene and nitromethane to tetranitromethane does not influence the rate of its decomposition in gas mixtures. 3. The results obtained can be explained by the formation of compounds of the type of a complex with charge transfer in a solution of tetranitromethane in benzene.
