Epidemiological features of tetramethylene-disulfo-tetramine poisoning in 2005 in Anhui province

Objective To analyze epidemiological features of poisoning incidences caused by tetramethylene-disulfo-tetramine and take effective measures.Methods All seven cases in 2005 were analyzed by descriptive study.Results Seven cases were reported.44 persons were poisoned by tetramethylene-disulfo-tetramine and the case fatality was 22.7% in 2005.The cases had clustering of disease in family.Conclusion Because most poisoners are farmers in poisoning cases,of which most take place in countryside.It is necessary to take countermesures to prevent and control poisoning in future,including supervising rodenticide market,popularizing the knowledge of rodent control,publicizing common sense of first aid and taking emergency exercises.
