TRANSIT SECURITY HANDBOOK

This handbook has been sponsored by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center) to (1) explain the security requirements specified in FTA's State Safety Oversight Rule (49 CFR Part 659), (2) provide an overview of security as it is currently provided by rail transit systems affected by the State Safety Oversight Rule, and (3) establish a reference for Oversight Agencies on security in the rail transit environment.
