Intra-uterine insemination:an evaluation of pregnancy rate and factors affecting outcome

2013
Objective:To analysis the relevant factors which affect the pregnancy rate in IUI cycles.Methods:1224 IUI cycles from Jan 2006 to Dec 2011 were included, female age, infertility duration, cause of infertility, cycle protocol, sperm recovery rate, middle follicle dominant, the type and thickness of endometrium, bleeding, leak and so on as the relevant factors were analysised. Results:The overall pregnancy rate was 12.6%(154/1224),Logistic regression analysis revealed three predictive variables as regards pregnancy:cycle protocol(OR:1.63,CI:1.10~2.41),sperm recovery rate(OR:0.66,CI:0.46~0.96),follicle rupture or not(OR:0.55,CI:0.28~0.91).Pregnancy rate did not have any independent relation to female age, infertility duration, cause of infertility, middle follicle dominant, the type and thickness of endometrium, bleeding, leak. Conclusion:Our results indicate that ovarian induction, high sperm recovery rate, follicle rupture were crucial factors that affected IUI pregnancy rate.
