Influence of the concept of“Strong” in esteem condition of perioperative maxillofacial cancer patients

Objective To investigate the effects of the concept of “Strong” in esteem condition of perioperative maxillofacial cancer patients .Methods Totals of 100 cases of maxillofacial cancer patients were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group , with 50 cases each.The control group was given conventional nursing intervention , besides the observation group was treated with the strong concept , including strong cognitive adjustments , emotional adjustments and behavior modification .The Self-Esteem Scale （SSES） was investigated between the groups before and after the intervention .Results Before the intervention, the total self-esteem score , behavioral self-esteem scores , social self-esteem scores and appearance self-esteem scores in the observation group were （52.74 ±3.46）, （18.31 ±2.02）, （18.20 ±2.34）, （16.23 ±2.03）, respectively.And those scores in the control group were （52.64 ±4.02）, （18.31 ±2.10）, （18.20 ±2.41） and （16.13 ±2.05）.The difference was not statistically significant （ t =-0.852, -0.821, -0.437,-0.562, respectively;P〉0.05）.After the intervention, the total self-esteem score, behavioral self-esteem scores, social self-esteem scores and appearance self-esteem scores in the observation group were （63.69 ± 3.82）, （21.82 ±2.64）, （21.91 ±2.89）, （19.96 ±2.21）, respectively.And those scores in the control group were （55.49 ±3.71）, （19.34 ±2.39）, （19.31 ±2.16） and （16.84 ±2.08）.The difference was not statistically significant （t=-9.621, -7.236, -7.238, -7.462, respectively;P〈0.05）.Conclusions The concept of “Strong” can improve the self-esteem of perioperative maxillofacial cancer patients , thereby to improving the mental health of the patient .
