To the Editor: Nonautoimmune atrophic gastritis of the fundus is commonly considered chronic, progressive, and irreversible and is closely associated with gastric carcinoma and endocrine-cell tumors.1,2 Recent investigations support the hypothesis that Helicobacter pylori may have a role in causing this condition.3 We evaluated the effect of the eradication of H. pylori on histologic findings and secretory–motor gastric functions in five men and seven women (mean [±SD] age, 48±9 years) with nonautoimmune fundic atrophic gastritis and H. pylori infection.
