2019
Abstract Although training both within and outside of the workplace occur across the lifespan, older adult workers present and must contend with different circumstances related to lifelong learning, workforce development, and training. When compared with the rest of the workforce, older workers may have different reasons for pursuing workplace training or additional education. Older adults also bring varied perspectives and attitudes to the multigenerational workplace, and these may positively or negatively interact with perceptions of fellow employees and employers. This chapter covers approaches to lifelong learning and training, while highlighting both the unique challenges and opportunities faced by older workers.
