An experimental study of Compton scattering on protons by linearly polarized photons has been carried out in the kinematical range Egamma =0.5-1.0 GeV and theta gamma cm=85-125 degrees . Results obtained on the cross-section asymmetry Sigma are compared with the various model predictions.
