Application of laser technology

Abstract The textile and garment industry is one of the oldest and largest industries in the world. Different technologies had be developed to deal with different textile and garment processing. Among them, the laser technology is one of the technologies that recently has the increasing concern in the textile and garment industry. The laser technologies can be applied in technological innovations in machinery, synthetic fibers, logistics, and globalization of the business due to its shorter lead times, cost pressures, high-quality results, and environmental responsibility. This chapter gives an overview of environmentally friendly laser technology that is being introduced in order to satisfy the growing demand for environmentally friendly finishing processes while maintaining functionality of textiles.
