In the midst of reform era being aware of their pedagogical discontentment teachers can better prepare themselves to implement reform suggestions This descriptive research focused on 104 elementary teachers teaching in public schools of Alapli and Eregli districts of Zonguldak providence in Turkey Data was collected through pedagogical discontentment instrument developed by Southerland Sowell Kahveci Granger and Geade 2006 to explore teachers? pedagogical discontentment toward science teaching The results illustrated that participating teachers had moderate level pedagogical discontentment which is an important prerequisite for understanding and implementing science education reform practices It is also evidenced that the teachers? pedagogical discontentment did not show any difference based on gender graduation year of experience and work location variables However the results indicated that teachers? pedagogical discontentment showed significant difference based on grade levels being taught
