Caracterización numérico-experimental del vórtice adyacente al escalón de un conducto con contracción

This paper presents the fluid flow analysis in a rectangular channel with a forward facing step (FFS). Reynolds number is calculated based on the height step (Reh=500) for a channel with aspect and contraction ratio equal 4 and 2 respectively. The numerical study is performed with the developed program denominated FLUSS, the code is based on the finite volumes technique and the SIMPLE algorithm, in the experimental study is used the laser technique particle image velocimetry (PIV). The experimental and numerical results compared have a difference of 6%.
