Risk factors and early prevention of osteoporosis

: Osteoporosis is a generalized bone disease that is characteristed by diminish of bone mass and destruction of bone microarchitecture, which leads to increased risk of bone fractures. The appearance of disease to much extent depends on the amount of bone mass that has been stored in the periods of childhood and adolescence. This article discusses basic factors which determine correct bone building including genetic, hormonal and environmental factors. The awareness of their existence as well as the knowledge of risk factors allows to implement proper, early prevention of this disease becoming more and more common.
