El proceso digital de imagenes aplicado a la conservación de la piedra monumental: un esemplo: Santa Maria del Naranco

Proposes the computerization of monument mapping through image digitization, which can indicate, by various colors, the stone varieties present in the building, i.e., calcareous stone, dolomite, conglomerates, marl, and sandstone, with their characteristics and state of deterioration. An early Romanesque church in Oviedo province, Spain, Santa Maria del Naranco, included in the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1985, was selected for this project. High-quality illustrations enhance the text. The advantages that can be derived by conservators from the digitization process are discussed.
