Artemisia Gestileschi y la “sexualización” de su obra

espanolEl objetivo de este articulo es profundizar en la figura de la pintora italiana Artemisia Gentileschi (1593-1652), cuya obra resulta de un gran interes y por mucho tiempo fue infravalorada. Para este fin, se han analizado fuentes directas como las obras artisticas de la autora, las cartas de la epoca, los procedimientos del juicio en el que estuvo involucrada Gestileschi, asi como estudios sobre su trabajo. La investigacion llevada a cabo se centra en los temas trabajados por la pintora en el marco del contexto artistico en el que le toco vivir estudiando las caracteristicas de sus figuras femeninas y analizando como los sucesos de su vida han terminado condicionando la recepcion de su obra. Las conclusiones muestran que, aunque estas circunstancias marcaron y “sexualizaron” la consideracion de su carrera, sobre Artemisia Gestileschi finalmente se ha impuesto su brillante trabajo artistico, solvente e, incluso, adelantado a su tiempo. EnglishThe objective of this article is to delve into the figure of the Italian painter, Artemisia Gentileschi (1593-1652), whose work is of great interest but went unnoticed in the academic world for a long time. To this end, direct sources have been analyzed, such as the author's artistic works, letters of the time, the proceedings of the trial in which Gestileschi was involved, as well as studies about her work. The research carried out focuses on the themes worked by the painter, in the framework of the artistic context in which she lived, the characteristics of her female figures and how the events of her life have ended up conditioning the reception of her work. The conclusions show that although these circumstances marked and "sexualized" the consideration of her career, about Artemisia Gestileschi finally has imposed her brilliant artistic work, solvent and even ahead of her time
