Die filosofie van besigheid en die besigheid van filosofie

1997
The argument in this article starts with the claim that there currently is a convergence between the content of postmodern management theory and that of philosophy. It is indicated how this convergence can be seen in four areas, namely, thinking skills, ethics, culture and the meaning of life. The argument then proceeds by claiming that this convergence is merely a convergence regarding the content of the two fields of inquiry and not a convergence in practice, because there is very little to be seen of interdisciplinary co-operation between the two fields. Possible reasons for the unwillingness of philosophers for becoming engaged in such co-operation are then identified and evaluated for their legitimacy. Finally an argument is presented for more interdisciplinary dialogue and the conditions for such a dialogue are identified.
