A case of elderly-onset recurrent rheumatic fever.

2020
: Acute rheumatic fever (ARF) is an inflammatory disorder that can develop after group A streptococcus (GAS) infections. We report a case of elderly-onset ARF. A 60-year-old man was referred to our hospital for pain of the extremities that occurred 2 weeks after tonsillopharyngitis. He had had episodes of erythema marginatum accompanied by polyarthritis treated with systematic prednisolone at ages 38, 43 and 48, but no such episodes in childhood. Physical examination revealed multiple arthrophyma on the fingers, wrists, ankles and knees.
