Generation of High-Power Cherenkov Superradiance Pulses Using Oversized 2D Slow-Wave Structures

2018
We propose to use two-dimensional slow-wave structures (2D SWS) for stabilization of the output azimuthal pattern of Cherenkov superradiance (SR) pulses. Due to the formation of azimuthal wave fluxes such structures should ensure synchronization of the radiation of a tubular electronic bunch of large diameter. In the framework of a quasi-optical approach and based on 3D PIC simulations we demonstrate the possibility of generation of sub-GW nanosecond SR pulses in the W- and G-bands.
