Epidemiological studies on taeniasis and cysticercosis in the middle part of Shandong Province.

2000
To obtain epidemiological data of taeniasis and cysticercosis, a survey was carried out in 1997 in the middle part of Shandong Province of China and 35 512 persons in 56 villages of 22 townships from 5 counties were investigated. The infection rates of the adult worm and cysticercus of taenia solium were found to be 0.101% and 0.107% respectively. There was prevalence in five counties at various level. Significant difference was not found in taenia and cysticercus infection between men and women, but the human infection rate of either taenia or cysticercus increased with the age, a positive correlation existed between the infection rate and age group. In addition, the occupational bais was demonstrated in case distribution. The sero positive rate of the specific IgG4 of anti cysticercus was 2.24%. The prevalence rate of porcine cysticercosis ranged from 0.12% to 0.48%. The positive rate of 204 blood samples from swine was 4.41%. Meanwhile, the epidemic factors of the disease were analysed in this paper.
