Continuous polymerization process for producing polymers having a narrow molecular weight distribution and Taylor-Couette reactor for its implementation

2007
The invention is a Taylor-Couette reactor for carrying out bulk polymerization, the reactor contained an outer reactor wall and herein concentrically disposed rotor, a reactor floor and a reactor lid, which together define the annular reactor volume, at least one means for metered addition of reactants and having a device for the product flow and wherein the means for metered addition of reactants above the reactor base in the lower two thirds of the reactor shell is arranged and enters a change in the kinematic viscosity ν of the reaction medium in the polymerization. The invention further provides a process for the continuous polymerization of monomers in bulk in the Taylor-Couette reactor, in the polymerization occurs a change in the kinematic viscosity ν of the reaction medium.
