The Effectiveness and Intervention of Premarital Examination in Panyu District of Guangzhou

OBJECTIVE To explore the effectiveness of free premarital examination and further analyze interventions through analysis of the premarital data of Panyu District of Guangzhou from 1998 to 2010.METHODS Arrange information on premarital medical examination of Panyu District from 1998 to 2010,and statistical analyze the rate for each year of premarital and disease detection. RESULTS In the implementation of mandatory premarital examination period(1998—2003),the premarital rate remained at a high level.After the implementation of voluntary premarital examination(2003—2006),premarital rate drastically reduced.In 2007,we began the implementation of free voluntary premarital,premarital rate has improved.The disease detection rate was 23.93%in premarital medical examination from 1998 to 2010,ranking the disease were detected in the reproductive system diseases,specified infectious diseases,medical diseases,sexually transmitted diseases,a serious genetic disease,the mental illness.CONCLUSION The pre-marital medical examination for the protection of both marriage and childbearing are important to reproductive health.In addition to free of charge in the implementation of voluntary premarital examination,it would be necessary to strengthen the mission,increase the linkage and suppots of governments at all levels,optimize service processes and improve service quality for improvement of premarital rate,ect.
