Bilateral ectopic pheochromocytomas: Computed tomographic and sonographic correlation

We describe a case of clinically unsuspected bilateral ectopic pheochromocytomas in a young woman. The bilateral retroperitoneal masses were located in the lower sympathetic ganglia at the level of the organ of Zuckerkandl. Computed tomography (CT) accurately identified the location and vascular characteristics of these neoplasms and provided access for percutaneous biopsy. Sonographic correlation is also presented.
