무한과 구원: 파스칼과 T. S. 엘리엇

2017
By examining thoroughly T. S. Eliot’s “The Pensees of Pascal”(1931), in which Pascal is eulogized as the great thinker who champions most convincingly the authenticity of Christianity in the Age of Reason, this article seeks to explore the significance of Eliot’s short but seminal essay for understanding the originality of Pascal’s thought which merges reason with sensibility, and science with faith. It is another purpose of this article to capture some ‘afterimages’ of Eliot’s own Christian thought which he never clearly explained in his own writing by delving deeply into Eliot’s strong sense of spiritual affinity with Pascal.
