Terahertz characterization of propane hydrate

2019
We measured the optical and dielectric properties of propane hydrate using THz spectroscopy with a cryostat enabling a temperature range of 20–240 K. An increase in the real parts of the parameters studied was observed with increasing temperatures and frequency, and an analysis showed a local maximum at around 4 THz. The imaginary parts of the optical and dielectric parameters are related mainly to infrared phonon absorption, and increase with both temperature and frequency. We found that the optical and dielectric properties of gas hydrates based on THz-TDS analysis can be discussed using an equation.
