Mineral resources of the Bull Mountain Wilderness Study Area, Garfield and Wayne counties, Utah

The US Geological Survey and the US Bureau of Mines conducted studies to appraise the mineral resources and mineral resource potential of the Bull Mountain Wilderness Study Area. The study area contains sedimentary rocks ranging in age from Jurassic and Triassic( ) to Cretaceous that have been intruded by Tertiary igneous stocks, lacoliths, and bysmaliths. No mines or prospects or identified resources are present within the study area. The northern half of the Bull Mountain Wilderness Study Area has a high mineral resource potential for gypsum, and the entire study area has a low resource potential for uranium and vanadium, coal, oil and gas, and geothermal energy.
