Recurrent hemarthrosis following total knee arthroplasty. Report of a case treated with arterial embolization.

2003
Abstract Recurrent spontaneous hemarthrosis of the knee is common and often related to a detectable cause. In contrast, hemarthrosis after knee arthroplasty is rare and frequently unexplained. We report a case of recurrent hemarthrosis 6 years after total knee arthroplasty. The cause was hypervascularization about the joint, and embolization therapy was effective.
