Efficiency Evaluation Study on Commercial Banks Based on Multivariate Statistical Analysis

Taking the data of efficiency indicator system of 13 domestic commercial banks in 2008 as samples and using the method of factor analysis,we find out the factors affecting the efficiency of commercial banks and calculate the scores of factors of various samples.Based on the formula of comprehensive grading for the efficiency of banks,we calculate the score of each sample,by which cluster analysis is used to classify business conditions of commercial banks.Using the above classification results and comprehensive grading to assess each sample,we can come to the following conclusion: the score of comprehensive evaluation for the efficiency of joint-stock commercial banks is higher than that for state-owned commercial banks;except that the score of the solvency factor of is close to that of joint-stock commercial banks,the scores of state-owned commercial banks in the factors of development ability,profitability and business efficiency are lower than those of joint-stock commercial banks.
