Some theoretical results on timing characteristics of Ge(Li) detectors

Abstract The pulse shape resulting from the interaction of a gamma-ray with a thin Ge(Li) planar detector is calculated. It is found to depend on one random variable. By means of a suitable transformation, the distribution of the time at which the signal crosses a threshold is obtained. Some curves are presented.
