Corrosion Inhibition of Carbon Steel in Dilute Aqueous Hydrogen Chlorine by Water-Soluble Polyaniline

2006
The corrosion inhibition of a carbon steel in 5% HCl by water-soluble polyaniline was investigated using immersion corrosion weight loss. The optimized content of the water-soluble polyaniline was determined by taking into account the variation of the inhibition rate of the steel with the inhibitor concentration. And the effect of temperature on the inhibition performance was also investigated. It was found that the water-soluble polyaniline was effective in preventing the carbon steel immersed in the dilute aqueous HCl medium from corrosion. The optimized content of the inhibitor was determined to be 0.4%.Moreover,as a kind of anionic type inhibitor, the inhibition performance of the polyaniline remained almost unchanged with variation of temperature.
