Safety and licensing aspects of pressurized water reactors in the USA

From interrational nuclear industries fair; Basel, Switzerland (16 Oct 1972). A number of safety-related issues are receiving particular attention by licensing agencies in the U.S. at the present time; these include the Loss-of- Coolant Accident, Common Mode Failures, and Anticipated Transients Without Scram. Combustion Engineering has performed analyses for its Nuclear Steam Supply Systems for each of these eventualities and has demonstrated the adequacy of the system in limiting the severity of the consequences.
