Towards universal, gender-responsive social protection? A global review of national social protection policies

2019
This brief presents key findings from a joint UN Women/ILO analysis of national social protection strategies and policies from a gender and human rights perspective. The aim of the research was to generate a picture of: (i) the process through which these policies are produced; (ii) the scope and breadth of the provisions they contain, including the extent to which their content is anchored in international standards; and (iii) the presence of implementation mechanisms that foster accountability and sustainability of social protection systems.
