VALORACIÓN DE MOVIMIENTOS OROFACIALES EN MENORES DE 3 A 5 AÑOS CON DESARROLLO NORMAL: DATOS NORMATIVOS

One of the central elements of orofacial motricity is undoubtedly the miofunctional evaluation, which includes the assessment of stomatognatic functions and the appreciation of fonoarticulatory organs, the last one includes praxical executions. The present research aims to contribute to the clinical speech therapy evaluation through the study of orofacial movements, labials and lingual, in children between 3 and 5 years old. 60 children were evaluated and distributed homogeneously in three groups of age, 3, 4 and 5 years respectively. To determine their involvement, the evaluation included the following steps: Informed Consent and application of the Questionnaire for Parents and/or caregivers, later were applied the Ficha de evaluacion de la motricidad orofacial of Speech Therapy School of the University of Chile (abridged). This was followed by the implement of the assessment protocol movements labials and lingual, based on the assessment protocol of praxias of orofacial motricity unit of Speech Therapy School of University of Chile. After obtaining and analyzing data, the results of this investigation show that the performance reached by the children in the realization of labials and lingual movements becomes more successful in terms of age, that is, the percentage increase gradually from 3 to 5 years. However, it is important to note that in all groups, the labials movements had better results than the lingual. These results are consistent with the available literature.
