A rare complication of dental extraction: Life-threatening orofacial angioedema

2015
Dental extraction is considered to be one of the simplest minor surgical procedures. This procedure is rarely associated with any systemic complication. However serious complication can occur if adequate attention is not given to the patient's medical history. Here we report a case of orofacial angioedema following dental extraction. This case report uniquely emphasis on acquired orofacial angioedema, though often considered not a grievous complication can culminate into a severe life-threatening situation requiring hospitalization and medical care under tertiary setup. An insight into the diagnosis and management of such patients also has been described.
