O uso de ansiolíticos e antidepressivos entre graduandos da área da saúde de Teresina-PI: uma pesquisa de opinião

Anxiety and depression disorders among students in the health field are prevalent when compared to other areas, being higher than that of the general Brazilian population. The present study aimed to evaluate the use of anxiolytics and antidepressants among undergraduate health students in the city of Teresina-PI through an opinion survey. This is a quantitative and qualitative study consolidated by means of a questionnaire using the Google Forms tool, being shared by the Whatsapp messaging application in groups and private recipients, and it is not necessary to be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee. After collection, the data were transferred to tables in Microsoft Excel 2016® where they were accounted for and organized in graphs with percentage values. 472 responses were collected, verifying that 27.54% use anxiolytics and / or antidepressants, and 57.69% of the interviewees stated that they had already abandoned treatment without medical discharge. 69.20% know some graduate student in health who makes use of such medications. 91.50% said they already felt anxiety symptoms, however, only 61.50% sought professional help. The identification of the profile of the studied population indicated essential aspects for improving mental health approaches. It is necessary for educational institutions to act in order to discuss the topic and develop prevention and intervention programs.
