Developing the teaching instinct, 2: supervision.

2002
The word ‘supervision’ means different things to different people. In healthcare there are three types of supervision all of which are closely linked. These are clinical, educational and managerial supervision. All have a slightly different focus but complement and overlap each other in many ways. In general, however, supervision is about ensuring patient safety and promoting professional development in the practitioner or trainee. One of its key aims is to encourage development through reflection.
