TRASTORNOS ALIMENTARIOS Y PERFECCIONISMO EN MUJERES ADOLESCENTES Y ADULTAS JÓVENES

2011
Las mujeres adultas jovenes con riesgo de trastorno alimentario presentan elevados niveles de la dimension desadaptativa del perfeccionismo Palabras clave Trastorno alimentario Perfeccionismo Riesgo ABSTRACT EATING DISORDERS AND PERFECTIONISM IN ADOLESCENT AND YOUNG ADULT WOMEN This research was conducted under an UBACyT student scholarship. Numerous studies have identified women as a risk group for eating disorders. Moreover, it was found that the maladaptive perfectionism dimension can act as a risk factor for these pathologies. The current study aims to evaluate the association of risk of eating disorder, respect adaptive and maladaptive dimensions of perfectionism in adolescent and young adult women. The sample consisted of 50 female adolescents aged 13 to 18 years and 55 young adult women aged 19 to 25 years. Participants completed a Sociodemographic questionnaire, the Eating Disorder Inventory-2 (Garner, 1991; adaptation Rutsztein et al., 2006) and the Almost Perfect Scale Revised (Slaney, Rice, Mobley, Trippi & Ashby, 2001; adaptation Arana, Keegan & Rutsztein, 2009). The data of the adolescent girls is currently being analyzed. Preliminary results indicate that 23% of the young adult women present risk of eating disorder. In addition, young adult women at risk of eating disorder present significantly higher scores on most subscales of the EDI-2 and the Discrepancy subscale of the APS-R. Young adult women at risk of eating disorder show higher levels of the maladaptive dimension of perfectionism. Key words Eating disorder Perfectionism Risk
