The invention belongs to the field of chemical, particularly a method for efficiently using a byproduct coarse methyl acetate solution in a PVA production process. The method solves the problem of a source of raw material hydrogen required by hydrogenation of methyl acetate by producing methanol and ethanol by virtue of hydrogenation of methyl acetate, producing hydrogen by virtue of part of methanol separated from a hydrogenation product, and separating and purifying generated hydrogen for hydrogenation of methyl acetate. The method provided by the invention solves the problem of the source of the raw material hydrogen required in a process of hydrogenation of methyl acetate. Hydrogen production by reforming water vapor of a hydrogenation product methanol of methyl acetate is carried out to provide continuous hydrogen in the hydrogenation process of methyl acetate. The method has the characteristics of being short in process flow, environmental-friendly, less in investment, easily available in raw materials and the like. Furthermore, the method provides an effective solution for recycling methyl acetate of a production enterprise (for example, PTA, PVA production enterprises) with byproduct of methyl acetate, thereby achieving an effect of efficiently using a byproduct methyl acetate solution.
