La frappe de monnaie et sa légitimité entre Ibn Hazm et AbŪ l-'AbbAs AHmad al-'AzafĪ : d'après un traité inédit de numismatique et de métrologie

This article presents the work (still in manuscript form) by Abū l-'Abbās Ahmad al-'Azafi al-Sabfī (1162-1236), Ithbāt mā laysa min-hu budd li-man arāda l-wuqūf 'alā haqīqat al-dīnār wa-l-dirham wa-l-sā' wa-l-mudd. After biographical information on the author, the article presents a study of the contents, sources and methodology of his work. Finally, the translation of some chapters is included. In these chapters, al-'Azafi discusses Ibn Hazm's position on the legitimacy and necessity of minting coins.
