One-stage transanal rectosigmoidectomy for Hirschsprung's disease: a preliminary outcome of 15 cases
2001
Objective To present one-stage transanal rectosigmoidectomy forHirschsprung's disease (HD) and its preliminary results. Methods Fifteen children aging from 4 weeks to 11 months who underwent one-stage transanal rectosigmoidectomy were reviewed. The technique included a partial rectal mucosectomy at 1cm proximal to the dentate line posteriorly and 2~3cm anteriorly.Resection of the rectal muscularis below the peritoneal reflection was carried out to the level of musculus levator left a short muscular cuff. An oblique anastomosis was made between the pull-through ganglionic colon and anus. Results The mean operative duration was 145 minutes and an average volume of bleeding was about 45ml . There were no intraoperative or postoperative complications. All patients had 2-6 bowel movements per day without soiling during a period of 1-4 months' follow-up.Conclusions This procedure is safe and effective . The long-term results should be followed-up.
